Can you taste the rainbow?

Guess what's brewing in the ganja garden? A recent trademark conflict is taking the world of cannabis by storm. So what happened?

On the one hand, we have TerpHogZ GeneticZ, the cannabis seed company behind the multiple award-winning, world famous Zkittlez strain, a much sought-after variety of cannabis. On the other hand, we have Wrigley, the famous Chicago-based company, known for chewing gum, but also the company behind the colorful candy ‘Skittles’.

Wrigley was not amused by TerpHogZ’ use of the name Zkittlez. The fact that Terphogz was also using payoffs like "Taste the Z Train" and "Taste the Strain Bro", didn’t help. Wrigley found this too similar to Skittles' long-running slogan "Taste the Rainbow."

After taking this matter to court, Wrigley got what they wanted: a settlement. Terphogz has agreed to a permanent court order in which it agreed to stop using the terms Skittles, Zkittlez or similar terms to sell cannabis-related products. The company will also stop using the slogans "Taste the Z Train" and "Taste the Strain Bro". In addition, Terphogz has agreed to give up the domain name zkittlez.com, although it may continue to use the letter "Z" if there is no confusion.
